Core Stability Training

Technology

University research has identified a strong link between conditions such as lower back pain and poor core stability (i.e. weakness in the special group of abdominal and back muscles that support the spine). With the access to real-time ultrasound technology we are able to help you isolate the correct muscles and develop an appropriate exercise program for you to help restore correct muscle function. This service can also be of value to clients who already participate in Pilates training to ensure that the correct muscles are being engaged and thus the maximum benefit is being realised from the Pilates training.

Poor core stability has also been linked to a wide variety of other musculoskeletal conditions such as sports injuries, disc prolapses, chronic pain, sciatica, (hip) bursitis, chronic hamstring/groin strains and headaches. Unfortunately very few people are able to distinguish the correct “core” muscle (the transversis abdominis) without the assistance of real time ultrasound and tend to overwork the more superficial oblique muscles. Insuring the right muscles are used in the right way is paramount to minimising the risk of dysfunction.
