Bodyworks Physiotherapy
Strength & Conditioning
By incorporating an evidence-based exercise program that won’t compromise healing and promote the capacity of the supporting tissue, we will strive to get you progressing through the rehabilitation process.
As we manage the process of (re)building strength, our goal is to help reduce the risk of re-injury or similar injuries occurring again through our treatment and rehabilitation program.
- We will provide you with the proper guidance and support and provide the appropriate treatment and exercise plans to help you recover.
- We will provide you with a customized digital treatment program.
- Our rehabilitation programs are designed to gradually increase in intensity over time to help to build strength and endurance.
- Our job is to educate you about your injuries and how to prevent them from recurring.
Blood Flow Restriction Therapy – BFRT
BFRT is the closest thing to an “exercise pill”! By placing carefully designed bands on the arms and legs, exercise causes fatigue and strengthening results, creating the same effect as high load resistance training, but with very low weights. The low-load weights mean that there is no mechanical strain or damage placed on the muscle (which normally causes soreness and a repair process) and the result is faster strength gains.
Incorporating BFRT is particularly useful post-injury or post-surgery with rehabilitation exercises commenced more rapidly than usual.
Shoulder Strength & ROM Classes
Our shoulder strength and range of movement class is a program designed to help individuals improve their shoulder mobility, stability, and strength. It involves a series of exercises that target the muscles, tendons, and ligaments surrounding the shoulder joint. The program will include:
- Range of motion exercises: These exercises are designed to improve the flexibility and mobility of the shoulder joint. They may include stretches for the chest, neck, and shoulder muscles.
- Strengthening exercises: These exercises target the muscles surrounding the shoulder joint, including the rotator cuff muscles, the deltoids, and the scapular stabilizers.
- Postural exercises: These exercises focus on improving posture and alignment, which can help reduce strain on the shoulder joint and prevent future injuries.
- Functional exercises: These exercises are designed to mimic everyday activities, such as reaching overhead, lifting, and carrying, to help regain the ability to perform these tasks with less pain and discomfort.
Core Stability & Back Pain
Our core stability and back pain class is a program designed to help clients improve their core strength and stability, with the aim of reducing and preventing back pain. It involves a series of exercises that target the muscles, tendons, and ligaments surrounding the spine and pelvis.
Your experience physiotherapist will provide guidance on proper form and technique, as well as modifications to accommodate individual needs or limitations. Each class will include:
- Core strengthening exercises: These exercises target the deep muscles of the abdomen, back, and pelvis, which provide support and stability to the spine.
- Flexibility exercises: These exercises focus on improving the flexibility and mobility of the spine and surrounding muscles, which can help reduce stiffness and pain.
- Postural exercises: These exercises focus on improving posture and alignment, which can help reduce strain on the spine and prevent future injuries.
- Functional exercises: These exercises are designed to mimic everyday activities, such as lifting, bending, and twisting, to help individuals regain their ability to perform these tasks with less pain and discomfort.
